The Tattoo quilt, block 3– from A Prim and (not so) Proper Quilter

 Courage, dear heart.   — C. S. Lewis.

This was the saying that kept going through my mind as I pieced this block. Fiddly, and time-consuming; and my mind went to enough different places while I worked on it that I made several mistakes in the cutting of the fabrics.

No coup here, but this was a good start on the first day of piecing this block.

I’m now considering cutting out the remaining pieces of the entire quilt so I can just sew, trim and press. A long weekend should fill the bill, so long as I’m not interrupted.

Moving right along—transitions; life and studio from A Prim and (not so) Proper Quilter

There are many reasons why I only had 3 blog posts last year. I posted a few times on Instagram, but not much more than here.

Even without the pandemic, life took some crazy turns for us in 2020. Hubs and I made decisions regarding our future, and I had to make some decisions regarding my work life.

Due to work life, school took a back seat. I dropped the classes I had enrolled in that would have started mid-January 2020; the workload ramped up that same week. Over a year later, I’m working from home 11-12 hours per ...

Present from A Prim and (not so) Proper Quilter

 As in:

  • Here and accounted for;
  • Being in the moment;
  • A gift.

“Present” will be my word for 2021.

I’m not much for doing the latest thing and it seems the “word of the year” may have become passé or swallowed up in COVID posts. But this word popped in my head this morning along with the above definitions, and I thought, “Why not?”

Because I wasn’t present for the bulk of 2020.

A lot of that is due to the pandemic, but I need to take ownership of part of it due to my own struggles. I ...

Today is the day ... from A Prim and (not so) Proper Quilter

 ...to unpack the Bottoms Up! Studio!!

Oh, so much to share and tell. I have a lengthy post coming soon, but today, TODAY! Starting today, I have 5 consecutive days to make my beloved sewing space to where I can use it! Of course, other unpacking will happen, too, but the Studio—I’m giddy!

So just to give you a sneak peek as to what our surroundings have been for the past 5 weeks, here you go, take a look at my Instagram account, @aprimandnotsoproperquilter.

Yes, it’s a hot mess and a PITA. But we’ve managed because ...

Looking forward from Elsie Quilts

Thanks to all for kind comments regarding my situation. Had the worst nosebleed ever and the doc in the ER and I decided it was time to permanently stop taking the blood thinner. It only lessens the chance of a clot/stroke by 5% and I'd rather not spend the rest of my life with a nosebleed nearly every day, or having it packed to stop it. Painful!

My sister's Celebration of Life service was amazing. If such an event can be called glorious, this one was. It honored her, glorified God who gifted her, and produced both ...

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! from A Prim and (not so) Proper Quilter

Yesterday was my blog's 6th birthday. I've been slacking on the posts over the past year and probably won't be much better this year, but who knows? Let's reminisce about December, shall we?
My sister's masterpiece work on my Christmas tree
I had lots of ideas for decorating this year, but didn't get as much done as I would have liked. But, I had so much fun MAKING after several months of no studio work. It felt great to be back in the studio again and since school starts on January 9, I am ...
